The splash pads, from the parks department that runs them
Water-play directories copy each other and go stale. This one is built from the parks department's own pages and GIS: 1103 splash pads, spray grounds and water play areas in 6 cities, every attribute linked to the source that states it — and left blank when the authority does not say.
What makes this list different
- Every value is sourced. Hours, season, cost, water features, shade, restrooms and ADA access each carry a link to the official page or dataset behind it.
- Blanks are shown, not filled. If the parks department does not publish an attribute, we print "not published by the official source" instead of guessing.
- Counts are explained. Where the authority's own sources disagree — prose versus the published list versus the GIS layer — we publish the list and document the disagreement.
- The authority's own words are kept. New York says "spray showers", Dallas says "sprayground", Phoenix says "splash pad" — each page shows the term that city uses.
